Abstract

|
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to understand and analyze the experience of endure in a life-pattern of the institutionalized elderly women.
Methods: The subject of the study consisted of five elders. Data was collected through 2008. July to 2008. September by individual in-depth interviews and analyzed by Colaizzi"s phenomenological methodology.
Results: As the results of analysis, Four categories were founded as follows: rumination due to an admission of institution, returned to myself, caring and balancing of own life, accept their reality and try to recover, and end of life with hope.
Conclusion: The results of this study may be presented as a research material for taking care of institutionalized elderly women to endure their environments positively and contribute to enhance quality life of elderly by inducing negative mental state of institutional life to a positive mental state.
